Day 17 Vilalba to Sobrado dos Monxes Saturday, June 21

 Please return to this post to read the stories of the day. We are staying in a centuries old stone albuerge and WiFi is not good inside the monastery. 

The monastery of Santa Maria de Sobrado dos Monxes.
The monastery was founded in 951 and is a UNESCO Heritage site. It is occupied by Trappist monks of the Cistercian order. The horse stables were renovated to create the hostel space for pilgrims.

    How beautiful! Wonder what the aubergue was like...And what a journey this has been for you! You're almost there.
    You two are made of a forgotten substance...from those early ancestoral pioneers who had an indomitable spirit of God & grit that go hand in hand.
    Years from now you will still remember, pieces of a memory that can never be erased because it was so incredible. Thank you for allowing us to vicariously live it with you. Praying always. Blessings. RnC

  We’re packing for a 500-700 mile long bike pilgrimage from San Sebastián to Santiago Spain, better known as The Camino del Norte.  We will be traveling over a variety of conditions including dirt roads and mountainous terrain.  We must keep our packs under 20 lbs. Day 11 Llanes to La Isla Sunday, June 15

Easy Day Along The Coast Short ride today, only 29 miles mostly along the coast. Short blog today. Cathy is going to post some highlights. Photos aren’t loading secondary to poor connections. Will try again when we have better WiFi (wee fee in España) Love that early morning pre ride cafe con leche! Met a new friend today…Ann, who started her Camino in  Belgium.  Laundry day at the albergue.  Pilgrams dinner. So fun to sit and converse with people from Japan, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, and France. All at one table!
