Day 2 San Sebastián to Getaria
Our Lady of Carmel
Salbatore Deunaren Eliza Church in Getaria
We are in Basque Country. We started the day today with an amazing breakfast that included a variety of pinxtos, huevos, jamon, jugos, postres and other Spanish delicacies that deeply satiated our hunger and fueled us for the day. While the food may have satisfied the body, the spirit was fed by this psalm that our running mate Christy shared with us. It was perfect for the day(s) ahead.A Song of Ascents.
Psalm 121
I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
2
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
3
He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
4
Behold, he who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5
The Lord is your keeper;
the Lord is your shade on your right hand.
6
The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7
The Lord will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
8
The Lord will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time forth and forevermore
As you know I am carrying prayer requests and special intentions for those of you who shared something with me. Not surprisingly, I received multiple requests to pray for the return of loved ones to the faith. As I pray and meditate on these requests which are so close to my heart, I started to think about how faith can sometimes be like a dormant seed. First, a dormant seed is dead. There is no life in it of its own. And so it is with us when we live a life of faith. As Paul says, “it is no longer I who lives, but Christ who lives in me” Gal 2:20. Second, a dormant seed can come to life even after a long passing of time. When it is given nourishment, light and water it springs to life and grows abundantly. And so it is with a soul that has the seed of faith within (as I believe every human being has from before birth) but has not come to life in faith. When the living water of life and the light of the world come to that soul a magnificent rebirth takes place and life flows abundantly. Third, when a seed germinates a tangible transformation takes place. That which was, is no more and has become something greater. And so it is with the transformed life. We are greater in Christ than the old man was before. So as Pentecost is almost upon us, pray with me, brothers and sisters, that The Holy Spirit will descend upon our loved ones in tongues of fire, nourish them with living water, and bring them back to the faith.
Dios Bendiga,
God is always working - Isaiah 55:11 HE will accomplish all his purposes. Have a blessed day! <3
