Day 6 Bilbao to Castro Uriales
More Coming Soon. We need rest!
Okay we’re trying to catch up on the blog after another very hard day. But there is an amazing story to be told today. We started out of our hostel a bit late today I did not get a good night sleep and I was absolutely dreading navigating through the busy streets of Bibao with a seemingly always rerouting gps. We navigated to the Guggenheim Museum pretty well but as we toured around this feat of modern architecture we got off course. (At this point faithful readers of the blog might remember my post entitled The Final Countdown where I talk about gps and GPS.) We soon found ourselves riding the wrong way on a one way street as we tried desperately to get back on course. That’s when it happened. Suddenly and out of nowhere, we were visited by an angel. A protector. A shepard. A guide that went before us like a pillar of fire to show us the way. Literally! Now, I don’t know if you believe in prayer and angels, but I’m here to testify, you should because they are real. I have been praying for months before this trip that God would send angels before us to guide us and protect us as we do our Camino. And Hector was an angel who was sent to us today in answer of our prayers. He appeared suddenly on a mountain bike much like ours and told us we were going the wrong way. He recognized us as pelegrinos from our gear and the tell tale shells that hang from our bikes identifying us as pilgrims. He told us to follow him and whipped in front of us to lead the way. He navigated the streets and bike paths of Bilbao with ease and aplomb. Where he took zigs and zags and crisp turns to stay on the path, we would have been stopped, looking at our gps, dazed and confused, lost and losing time. He lead us all the way to the outskirts of Bilbao, some six plus miles, and gave us some final direction before he sent us on our way.
Hector, our guardian angel.
We totally believe in angels 😇
ReplyDeleteHector was Heaven-sent! Love that story. We'll be asking Hector to send in some of his buddies to help in California's "city of Angels".....Meantime, I know you both are under God's protection. May you continue to give Him honor & glory & the credit as you continue on your holy journey. Love you!
